Your Daily Dose of Drama 13/04/2012
That was an ad even I was surprised to see. Yeehaw! First of all I didn't know that I just stumbled upon an ad-video on YouTube. But when I realised, it was a good feeling, a wow-effect which was long abscent concerning advertising, I think. By the way: TNT is a Turner Classic Movies company, and I wasn't aware it launched in Belgium. Well, obviously, it did (what reason could there be to settle this ad in Belgium?). But I got the feeling that TNT is present in other countries, too, because this ad is in English and not in Dutch, French or German (these three are Belgium's official languages). I recently perceived TNT in Germany (my homecountry) and found out that it has been started in 2006 (I just discovered TNT Germany because a good friend of mine doesn't stop talking about a TV series named "Game of Thrones" which TNT is running in their TV program - he's praising it on and on so I probably should risk a glance). There was just another incidence that reminded me of advertising being fun. I'm pretty sorry that it was just a German competition: People tried to make a job in the advertising industry look cool and make people apply for an appropriate job. The slogan was something like "Get to Advertising" (in German: Komm in die Werbung). The competition (everyone was able to send in some ideas - the ideas reached from advertising text message to videos) was launched by W&V (Werben&Verkaufen // Advertising&Selling) and I think the guys have done a good job. "Instead of making it visible to everyone, we made it invisible to promote it." Well, this is how you arouse attention today! Not the most creative campaign - especially because last year I heard from a company installing displays on the outside of the car to make it look as the driver wants it to. And because Mercedes already launched a "invisibility"-campaign before, just with invisible walls to advertise their cool new auto-break-system (not ABS). And the invisible git (hobo).. But it works - and there is nothing wrong with being inspired by earlier ideas, is it? ..If it wouldn't have been for German rapper "Marteria", I wouldn't even have noticed the campaign - but in the end I did. The reason was the stolen music beat in the background of the video: A beat that Marteria already used in his song "Verstrahlt". It's not exactly the same, but enough for Marteria to institute proceedings against Mercedes.. Source (German): Mopo.de Nachrichten BMW Mini Coupé Ad 23/12/2011
A few weeks ago, I was handed this brochure which advertises the new BMW Mini Coupé. I saw the front cover and it looked good, but I didn't expect something great inside. What shall I say? I was wrong ! _It contained a disc (the old, black ones, just a bit smaller) and a needle connected to a foldable cardboard. The title said "Kratz die Kurve mit 45 RPM", translated "Scrap the bend with 45 rounds per minute" (it's a German saying, I don't expect you to understand it). So I folded the cardboard in a way that the needle was set on the disc and turned the disc. Wow. A motorsound, then some industrial music. Sure, without bass and pretty quiet, but it was amazing. Convince yourself of it, I recorded a video and posted it above this text. Watch it and enjoy the ideas of the advertising industry :) Unnecessary fact: This is the first post I arranged in three posting categories. Feel free to comment :) Axe 2012 - Noah's Ark 20/06/2011
If 2012 provides the end of our earth, Unilever found a genius solution for this. "Feliz fin del mundo": For the happy ending of the world. In Spain (and probably in some other countries, too), Unilever rides a new commercial advertising their brand named Axe. Intructions for your Do-it-yourself Happy ending: First step: Build an Ark. Don't wonder; you should just shrug, or aren't you a M.A.N? Second step: Get Axe 2012 and spray around your body few times. Let the flood of ladies conquer your ark. Third step: Rock'n'Roll. Sticking to the facts, this ad is well done with really cool computer generated content. I still don't know why they put this twirl-scroll-curlicue typeface upon the deo can which has nothing to do with this ad or the 2012 end of the world scenario (does it?). Axe's ads arrogate slightly sexist in their entire product range. But there were ads where this sexist ideas had been hidden quite well (even if it's obvious, though), like in these three Axe-effect printed ads down below (source: ibelieveinadv) Telekom: Angry Birds Live 13/06/2011
Look at this! Telekom again, after their crazy royal wedding was to be seen on TV ;). Great idea, funny put into scene, but it doesn't look like it was really something everybody could access. To me, it looks a bit made up, a bit artificial, doesn't it? Plus, I don't really get what Angry Birds has got to do with sharing... Funny, though, and it reminds me of a video I found earlier this year: "Angry Barrels". Posted Angry Barrels down here. The guys who made this Angry Barrels video deserve to be checked out on youtube by you, I think, they've got a lot more visually pimped videos on their channel, so here's the link to Corridor Digital. Lidl: First Class for All 01/06/2011
Somehow, in the last few weeks, I spent a lot of time in things having nothing to do with dasepure.weebly.com, and somehow I had no real motivation to write a new article. When I had a glance at my site's statistics, my motivation switch was turned ON. Thanks to you guys, visiting my site even if there is nothing new here :) There is this brilliant advertising project from Lidl which was run in Portugal. It certainly cost a load of money and reached only little audience, but you can't tell me it was bad marketing :D Lidl served the same meal for all classes in a spanair airplane from Lisbon to Cancun. This time, every meal was a first class meal, ingredients Lidl only, hand made with support of "Olivier", a well-known Portuguese chef (head cook). The passengers of this flight as guinea pigs felt very pleased, giving positive feedback. Further explanation and information to find in the 2 videos I posted down below. I don't know if there was any advertising agency involved in this special offer, but it's still a bit creative and people like it. Well, actually, who wouldn't be pleased of paying economy while getting first class ;) ? Anyhow, I'm not really concerned if this was a 5-star-meal, but it definitely was a good one (simply because it looked like it was). Regards to all my lovely persistent readers, Dasepure. Se Russian Facebook Roulette 13/05/2011
Sounds ill, is ill. With Russian Facebook Roulette (RFR), Russian Standard Vodka comes up with a great idea. Play RFR against your friends and one of you will "lose his virtual life". For sure, they need your Facebook password to be able to delete your account (I wonder if this is not reason enough for some people to hit the road). But RFR has some clearly invitive arguments for giving it a try: The ones whose virtual life survived will be offered a week of holiday in Russia, the loser will, supposedly, get the real bullet. The game was developed by some students from renowned Miami Ad School Europe (website in German). Pretty cool work, I think. Who wants to be the first to get started? (I'm sorry but I didn't find a link that could get you to RFR) The Pissalyzer 12/05/2011
Did you know an average man needs 24.8 seconds toilet time after having drunk one pint? I did not. Following this analysis, you definitely need more time for get rid of two pints, don't you? This is where this alternative "ad" settles. Watch the video, it's explained there. I have a feeling this method of proving someone drank too much is not really precise, but safety first. It's for a good reason that you are not allowed to drive while having more than 0.5 mg blood alcohol. Nevertheless, I think they could have optimized the way the information is presented after pissing on the black thing. All the guys have to crouch to be able to read what it says; you don't feel great going prone in front of an urinal, do you. Actually, I have no idea if and how it is possible to display the information you probably drank too much and better take a cab in another way, but it would be worth spending a thought for it, indeed. Moat - Search Engine for Ads 05/05/2011
Remember Google and Yahoo? Yes, these tiny tools to search the whole web for websites. Remember what this blog here is mostly about? Yeah, the world of advertising. Got it? Moat is a search engine for banner ads that have been out there in the web. You won't find every banner ad from every tiny company, but many international and big banner ad campaigns are to find there. In the example above, I searched for Coca Cola and got 69 results. By far not every Coca Cola banner ad found its way into the register of Moat, but 69 ads are many, though. If you ask why there is a search engine for banner ads, then read this explanation to find on Moat.com (click to enlarge): I'm quite sure this search engine is not interesting for everybody, but it's nice to know there is one if you need it, though. >>>Link to Moat.com<<< Live Betting with Heineken [UPDATE] 04/05/2011
Heineken Star Player is the name of Heineken's newest invention for marketing their beer. You are able to bet on corners, goals, free kicks and so on live in football games of the UEFA Champions League, simply through the internet. To make it as easy as possible, they created a web site for this and an app for every kind of smartphone available at the moment. Just watch the video to see how it works. Beer plus sports is a great partnership, so there is nothing negative about Heineken Star Player. You cannot even lose money because you can only win (or lose) virtual points and compete with your friends and the whole Star Player-world. This would be a great idea for all football games, not only champions league, I think. If you make such a big betting contest in the web, you certainly have to separate between the nations' leagues and focus on the ones which are most famous, but I think this would cause an enourmous amount of positive publicity for Heineken. For sure, this Champions League thing is cool enough, though. I am sorry about not being able to embed the video because I don't want a Google account but have to log in to get the embed-code of this video, so just check it out on ElmaAltShift. >>Link to the video<< UPDATE: I found the video uploaded from another guy on youtube, here it is: | CategoriesAll ArchivesJune 2011 Sources:
